The Thai nation, along with its people, is a nation of peace, and, though thoroughly prepared militarily to defend itself, is slow to criticize anyone and gets along well with both neighboring countries and those far removed and much different from itself. Indeed, Thailand is almost certainly the only nation in the world regarded as a friend by all. For these reasons, though no country or region of the world can be assured of safety or protection from terrorists - if there is a safe haven, it is surely "The Land of Smiles"!
Thailand is a constitutional monarchy, justly proud of its long-ruling and beloved King (who is probably the most caring, dutiful and well-informed monarch ever). Thailand is called "The Land of Smiles" for good reason. It is a nation of beautiful, good-humored women and kind, fun-loving men, and there are smiles and helpful attitudes for foreigners demonstrated everywhere.
Much to be considered is the fact that the helpful Thai people are tolerant and accepting of all nationalities, religions, cultures and races. So, if you would like to "get away" from government red tape and mailboxes crammed with advertisements to live in peaceful, near-anonymity and be accepted the way you are, Thailand is a good place to be. The people here are mainly Buddhist, though there are also an appreciable number of Christians and people of other faiths. The form of Buddhism practiced here is one of tolerance and tranquility, and it is influenced by the inherent pragmatism and common sense of the Thai race itself.
There are many beautiful temples, tourist sites and landmarks to visit, as well as attractive beaches and mountains. The nightlife is pleasant and budget-friendly, attracting visitors from all over the world.
Bangkok, the capital city, is well equipped with almost all modern amenities, including world-class department stores, restaurants and hotels.
Most importantly of all, perhaps, is the love Thai people feel in their hearts for Westerners, and their reliance on them (at least those who are native speakers of English) to help them learn to speak, read and write English in order to further their lives and succeed in business.
At the same time, the sweet and charming Thai people do not practice their English outside the classroom very much, at least until they have reached a very high level of proficiency. They therefore require teachers who have been trained to help students learning English as a foreign language, meaning teachers who are informed about the special needs and problems Thais have in learning our language, and what to do to help (all of which is covered thoroughly in our TEFL for Target Learner Groups Course).
As there are not enough trained teachers to meet the demands of the Thais, this means that there are a lot of opportunities for you here. With training and a minimum amount of experience, you will be able to qualify for the best-paying and most secure positions - which, though not making a wealthy man or woman of you (at least in terms of money), will enable you to live and work in Thailand comfortably, while enjoying the greatest level of respect from nearly everyone else.
If you would like to start a new life outside your own country, and to "make a difference" in the lives of a lot of wonderful people, WHY DON'T YOU COME ON OVER?
