It takes a bit of work to do the 'impossible', but we have done it! What makes a four-week TEFL Certificate Course 'impossible?', you might ask. After all, most other course providers offer only four weeks, while we have traditionally offered six. The answer is a simple one: We have never made it our objective to copy an inadequate training system, and most other providers give you just that. By this we mean that very few training materials are generally provided, giving just one of two training results: Either the trainees became overly-stressed over trying to retain knowledge just from what took place in the training room, or the training was so 'watered-down' that graduates were left unequipped to cope in the real world classrooms of demanding EFL and ESL students.

We therefore put into our course everything that might be needed by our graduates in the real world of EFL and ESL teaching. This was a lot!

Nonetheless, it became clear after a time that many teacher trainees are in a hurry to obtain their qualifications, and some, indeed, are short of funds. Thus, a four-week course for many people is just what they need – provided that it does the job for them.

This was our problem. How to reduce instruction time from four weeks to six without stressing trainees out, and without diluting our valuable course and resources in any way.

Ultimately, it came down to our trainers, who have figured out a way to do it. Characteristic of this success are the words of ormer Bangkok trainer) Ted Tucker, who says as follows:

"The trainees started their observed teaching practice yesterday and all did VERY well. I think the one week (instead of two as in the six-week program) before teaching allowed less time for them to get stressed out about it. A very smart group of students, though.

Looking good at this point. I would say the students are bearing up quite well. Stress level is low and confidence is growing."
